They become an intimte part of you and you build such a relationship with them… THese old houses make you feel really “at home” and you become adictive as well to take care of them, to work on new ideas… which goes out of the home into the yard

I like old houses because they convey a sense of time and people. a creaky wooden floor tells of much activity over the years, the coming and going, maybe a baby’s first steps.
the attention to craftsmanship alerts that someone valued the time and effort more than just the money spent.
the unique singularity speaks of individualism and the pride of being different and comfortable in the chosen architectual style.
Old homes speak of the distance in time and people who have come before – - – leaving just the home as a reminder of other days

I love the detail in older homes that has become alas too expensive to be the norm anymore…that kind of attention to detail and craftsmanship just doesn’t exist anymore. Thank you to all who own them for keeping these homes in good shape!

I grew up in Santa Clara where the old downtown area was surrounded by some lovely Victorian neighborhoods. Although our orchards and open space have been cemented over and replaced by non-descript buildings, the charm of older homes reminds me of the days when great emphasis was placed on architectural style and beauty. Such buildings should be cared for and kept as a reminder of our history.

Recent implants from Michigan, bought an old fixer upper and really need some inspiration to bring her back to her original beauty. This is our second historical home, but our new Prairie Style bungalow is our favorite. Naglee Park has beautiful homes and wonderful neighbors to match. We love the old charm from historical buildings, and the craftsmanship you can’t get from new builds.

We just bought a foreclosure in NP with a lot of “opportunities”. We’re looking forward to the tour to get a feel for the original designs, conditions, treatments, colors, textures etc as we begin the selection process for our own improvements. The homes on the tour are guaranteed to be well-researched for period authenticity and well-crafted homes.
