Fall Decorating Ideas, with Vicki’s Vignettes

home tour brunch

You know someone is really into the Rose Garden Homes Tour when they hold a pre-tour brunch and invite their friends for a Mimosa before the day of blue booties begins. And when you walk into her home, you think to yourself that this house should be on the home tour, too.

4020700746_6fda7a0487_bThat was our morning at the home of one of our favorite lookiloos — Vicki Petulla. We have done a couple of stories about her home already. One featured the inside of the house, where her family of three has the kitchen table always at-the-ready for a party of 10 (A girl after my own heart.) We did a second photo shoot of her new backyard fireplace. But that still wasn’t enough for our readers. We received an email from one who wondered what Vicki was doing with her home for the holiday season. “Would LOVE to see how she decorates for fall/halloween/Christmas,” the reader wrote.

home tour brunchWell, we here at Lookiloos aim to please.

Vicki is a master at the vignette. She loves color and texture and layering. And she loves everything to be fresh, whether a pumpkin or a fallen branch. Anytime Vicki is willing to open her home to Lookiloos, we’re happy to step inside.4020708236_cfd351ab96_b

Here are the two stories we’ve written about Vicki and her lovely home, with lots more photos of her home in different seasons. (We’ll be showing more Rose Garden Homes Tour homes in the weeks to come.)

This home is gorgeously decorated for the fall! Everything about this home is so warm and inviting from the welcoming wreaths and urns on the front porch that beg you enter, to the cozy stone fireplace draped in its golden majesty in the backyard (notice the crown detail on the urn). Even the way the food is displayed on the table with the natural foliage solicits your attention and dares you not to be drawn in by it. Vicki certainly has a natural ability for creating enticing spaces that capture your attention and leaves you wanting more.

  2. Kendra Sythe says:

Wow! This girl puts Martha Stewart to shame. Absolutely stunning vignettes.
Vicki, do you style for hire? I would love to have you style my home for Thanksgiving.

  3. OH! WOW! I am so inspired and motivated to start decorating after viewing these AMAZING photos of Vicki’s Vingettes. I have been a big fan of decorating and have seen a lot of clever ideas in my day but NOTHING compares to this. Her use of unique and different items to create warm and original scenes and vingettes is just breathtaking-these are spectacular! I love that she doesn’t use any ‘predictable’ arrangements or items-everything is fresh and crisp to the eye-nothing I’ve ever seen before-BRAVO! I will be holding my breath longing for more in next month’s edition-this was a real treat.

I love the natural, earthy colors and textures Vicki uses in her decor. Her home is so warm and comforting – the perfect refuge for the chilly months ahead.

    Youdabomb!

This fall scene is really pretty and practical during this time of the year. Her work is really good! I am really looking forward to seeing more of her work and and what she has in store for the holiday season.

  8. Wanda Wilson says:

I have enjoyed all of the stories and pictures of Vicki’s home. Can you do her every season? I would love to see how she decorates for the spring. Waiting to see her Christmas table. Keep Vicki coming!

LOve it, love it, love it. Thanks for the glimpses!

  10. Kim Petulla says:

Vicki has an unbelivable talent of turning your ordinary furniture or fixture into something extraordinary…she has a true gift for design!!

  11. Wanda Wilson says:

On reviewing Vicki’s photos again I noticed something jarring – plastic forks. Yikes! Looking more closely, I observed the quiche not in a silver pie pan, but a tin one. Store bought quiche? Oh my. Could this mean that Vicki is not perfect? She’s just like the rest of us?

  12. vicki petulla says:

Dear Wanda- Yes, I am not perfect. Sometimes a quick clean up means plastic forks. The quiche (to die for) Whole Foods. Keep those comments coming- I love them!!!

  13. julia says:

She may use plastic, but I want you all to know, that while she invited Desiree and me to join the party, she wasn’t expecting a photo shoot of the brunch. We zinged that one on her when we saw the beautiful table. (In other words, we took photos after the first slices of quiche were eaten, thus revealing the tin pie pan……) I think we need another post, “Vicki’s darkest secrets revealed.!” By the way, Vicki, another reader wondered where you purchased some of your harvest details….

  14. vicki petulla says:

I love shopping at Bunches in LG. They have the best selections of seasonal flowers.

  15. LynnAnne Heil says:

No one does it better than Vicky Victoria! I have always been a big fan of spring but after looking at what Vicky has done with fall decorating!!…all the beautiful colors and warmth…I can’t help but enjoy fall more and more every year. I really like the way she has created a look that will go from Halloween through Thanksgiving…inside and out. What a treat to see her fantastic work. Thanks for the vingettes. Can’t wait to see more. Who’s Wanda?

  16. Cindy Comeau says:

Is there such a thing as a silver pie pan? If so, I want one!
Spectacular vignettes as always. I am continuously inspired by Vicki and often ask myself, “what would Vicki do?” I look forward to viewing more of what Vicki has to share. My name is Cindy, and I too have used plastic forks:)
