Outdoor Living in a San Jose Italian Villa

Outdoor Living in a San Jose Italian Villa

Recently, realtor Valerie Mein invited me to check out one of her listings in San Jose’s Dry Creek / Willow Glen neighborhood – the Biagini home.  I jumped at the chance to explore the home of the former owner of the venerable Casa Casa.  Over the years I have become a huge fan of the shop and could just imagine what a home decorated by Nancy Biagini herself would look like.  Afterall, the home had been featured twice on the Willow Glen Home Tour and in Metropolitan magazine; it promised not to disappoint.

What I found at the house on Mulberry Lane is something that exuded the genteel life of the Italian countryside.  When you walk through the front doors you are greeted by a fireplace surrounded by beautiful hand crafted imported tiles.  The room is complete with a gilded black and gold chandelier and matching cozy red couches.  They beg you to sit down and enjoy a rainy day sipping tea curled up with a good book.

The 4 bedroom house has too many features for me to list.  I loved the sweetly decorated kids’ bedroom complete with antique furniture and hand painted pantry doors.  But what struck me the most about the home was the way that the majority of the space was reserved for entertaining large groups.  The dining room had ample room for a table of 12 and opened up to a front courtyard with a stone fountain.  The backyard features a vine covered gazebo and pizza oven.  It’s hard not to imagine yourself hosting an intimate BBQ for 40 friends on a warm summer night – simply perfect California, with a touch of Italia, indoor/outdoor living.
