We line up for home tours. We brake for open houses. We peek through fences. We fantasize. We want to get in! We started Lookiloos to indulge the inner lookiloo in all of us, to showcase beautiful homes and gardens with original photos and stories, to give decorating tips and remodeling ideas and create a community to share our stories of home. Peek inside with us.

Jeans are being used for everything these days from insulating homes to just about a million different crafts. A few years back a friend of mine had made this wonderful quilt using old jeans. It was beautiful. At that moment, I started saving every pair of out-grown, worn-out and not fit to be [...]
Ever since my husband took the sledgehammer to the shower eight years ago, the rest of the master bathroom has, like an unhappy housewife, “let herself go.” It’s time for a makeover. We need your ideas!
We did it finally – we rearranged our tiny 2 bedroom house + office into a 3 bedroom home. Yes, that means the kids have their own rooms and I lost the extra office. Well actually, my husband lost his office and I gained a roomie in my garage office. Grrr…
It [...]
This Palo Alto craftsman is a dream! Walking distance to downtown and a gorgeous front porch.
This is an adorable home. You will receive immediate gratification pulling up out in front and then it continues as you cross the threshold. The floor plan is great. I love how the home office is on the opposite side of the home to where the bedrooms are located. The kitchen has a [...]

You love your home, not just for what it is,
but for what you know it can become.
Peeking into other people's homes
feeds your secret fantasies.
You brake for open houses.
Hi Julia,
We would LOVE to be one of your neighbors. If there is one word to describe us, it’s definitely impromptu!
You’ve decorated your outdoor porch so beautifully! It’s an amazing space, so light, scenic and inviting. Let us know if there is a house for sale in your neighborhood, we’ll move in!
Thanks White on Rice Couple! I want you _ and your motorcyle _ on my screened porch and in my neighborhood. You’d fit right in _ just bring one of the delectable dishes featured on your website. (Covered please, if you can strap it on to the bike)… julia
LOL! We’re not sure if the plastic wrap would be able to hold up against Todd’s lightening fast motorcyle speed!
But you are welcome to taste our dishes when ever you’re in our neck of the So Cal woods! XOXO
Great Space!!! You are truly an inspiration!!! I am running down to Crate and Barrel to buy 500 votives!!!
Ooooh, I so want to come to one of your parties! You are a girl after my own heart – I will never look at a screened in porch the same way again!
I am loving the site – you guys are doing great. I hope you joined the HARO site I listed on my blog, there seems to be a PR lead EVERY single day. Best of luck!!! And, psst….I can make an impromptu party ANY time….;)
Julia – love the screened porch! This element really should be a must on the new home builders list of elements – not an upgrade! It evokes such a warm, friendly “come on over feel”. This is certainly something all American neighborhoods should get back to! Great site – Don’t forget to check out the new Sunset home in Monterea Ranch, Monterey opening soon. I’m sure there will be lots of fun stuff in that one! LOL Christine Meeks
Thanks Christine. Screened porches on the back of homes are great. But how about more front porches, where neighbors gather while walking their dogs? I’m working on a Lookiloos story on making better use of front yard space for courtyards etc…Stay tuned!
